Timers by length
Each page below is the same timer, preset to a length, with notes on what that length is useful for.
Timers for a purpose
The full list is on the all timers page.
What it does
- Countdown with a visual display. Choose a ring, a shrinking disk or plain digits, and go full screen for a room.
- An alarm that is set up before you need it. Pick one of six sounds, press Test sound, and optionally repeat the alarm until you come back.
- Background sound. Soft rain, brown noise or calm tones, generated in your browser. They are not recorded songs.
- Shareable links. Copy a link that opens a timer with its length and label already set, and starts it.
- Stopwatch with laps. Switch tabs to count up and record splits.
- Time in the tab title and a screen wake lock, where your browser supports it.
- Optional pop-out window in browsers that support Document Picture-in-Picture, so the time floats above other windows.
Accuracy, background tabs and sleep
The countdown compares your device's clock with the moment the timer should end rather than counting ticks, and the ticking runs in a background worker so a busy page does not slow it down. Browsers still limit background tabs to save power, so the display may update less smoothly when the tab is hidden, but the tab title keeps showing the time left.
What a web page cannot do is run when the device is asleep or the browser is closed. If a timer must ring while you are away, keep the tab open, keep the device awake and turn the volume up. For anything safety-critical, such as medication or equipment that must not be left running, use a dedicated physical timer as well.
Privacy
The countdown, stopwatch and sounds run in your browser. Nothing you set is sent to a server, and no account is needed. See the privacy policy for details on advertising.
